Coretta Chaffin, RD

Registered Dietitian, Charlotte, NC


Coretta Chaffin, RD is a Registered Dietitian with over fifteen years experience in nutrition counseling, program coordination, and education. She has provided nutrition counseling in the Mecklenburg County WIC program for almost twenty years. Coretta partners with local schools, nonprofits, and businesses to develop innovative and practical nutrition and wellness programs.

Ms. Chaffin previously served as a Professor in the Department of Human Nutrition at Winthrop University where she was a mentor in the Interns Health Department.

Coretta brings a fresh and energetic approach to nutrition and wellness through program development, workshops, and personal consultation for individuals and groups. To her credit are numerous television appearances and programs developed through funding from the Health and Wellness Trust Fund of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Health Department. In 2002, she received the Charlotte Dietetic Association’s Young Dietitian of the Year Award.

Ms. Chaffin holds a B.S. in Food and Nutrition from Winthrop University and a M.Ed. in Health Education from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. In her spare time she enjoys reading, ballroom dancing, photography, gardening, and Mary Kay.

Coretta lives in Charlotte with her teenaged daughter. They are members of University Park Baptist Church.
